Housing Agreement - This is a Housing Occupancy Agreement made by and between the student whose name appears at the end of the agreement and Bethel University. It grants the student permission to occupy a resident hall or apartment in University housing for a specific amount of time. THIS AGREEMENT IS LEGALLY BINDING
Agreement Period and Payment - This agreement, unless otherwise provided shall be binding for the full remaining portion of the academic year and does not include the summer term. If at anytime the student ceases to be enrolled at Bethel University, this agreement shall be automatically and immediately terminated
Security Deposits - As a courtesy to the returning students, the deposit will be help over to hold your room assignment for the following year. The security deposit is returned upon graduation or at the close of the agreed upon term if the student meets all agreement requirements, cleans the room, properly checks out of the room in person, and vacates the room no later than 24 hours after the last exam or commencement exercise. Dismissal or expulsion of the student from the University will result in the forfeiture of the security deposit. Violations of any provision of this agreement will result in security deposit forfeiture.
Housing Agreement Cancellation - Cancellation of the agreement within the time frame of a term will follow the University Withdrawal dates. The University reserves the right to cancel this agreement for violation of any provisions of this agreement. The student will be charged by the University for the time he/she has occupied his/her room assignment (to include pre season camps). The University shall change my room assignment, my roommate, or room classification should a need occur in any of these areas.
Occupancy - This agreement secures space in the University housing. The University reserves the right to change the housing assignment at any time or for any reason in the sole discretion of the University. Student will not change room assignment or roommate without prior or proper consent from the Director of Residence Life. Residence life has the right to assign students to any vacancy in the University housing. This agreement and stated room rental does not cover housing during Christmas and summer break, campus is officially closed during these periods. Student entry into the on-campus rooms without the written permission of the Director of Housing will be considered breaking and entering and/or trespassing and be subject to legal prosecution. Room assignment will run through the entire academic year. Student will be required to to move out all belongings during the semester break.
Maintenance - Student will be required to fill out a proper form (online) for any problem regarding computer/phone/maintenance problems that may occur while residing on campus.
Visitation - Student will be expected to adhere to the University visitation policies. Student will be required to seek written permission from the Director of Residence life before having an overnight visitor in his/her assigned room. This includes Bethel University commuter students.
Security - Student is expected to notify the Director of Residence life of any security problems that may occur on the Bethel University Campus, regardless of whether or not he/she decides to call the local police.
Residence Inspection - In the case of a health or safety emergency or in circumstances where there is a reason to believe that State or Federal laws or Bethel policies have been violated, the University has the right to immediately enter and inspect or authorize inspection of rooms without notice. Students will be notified of periodic routine room inspection for general orderliness and agrees to provide access to all reasonable hours for services and repairs.
Damages - This University is not responsible for the loss or damage of personal property from any cause. The University recommends that the students obtain a renters insurance policy. Student will be charged for any damage to his/her room which are beyond normal wear. In the case of unidentified damage or vandalism, all students living in the identifiable area around the damaged area will be charged equally.
Fire Code Regulations and Drills - The University considers fire code violations to be a serious threat to both personal safety and property. Therefor anyone found in violation of the fire code will be immediately subjected to the penalties imposed by the University Handbook with regard to the fire code. Students will be expected to fully cooperate in fire drills or any other disaster drills while present in any residence halls. Students will ONLY use EMERGENCY EXITS during FIRE DRILLS or in the event of an actual disaster as directed by Residence Life.
